The award-winning singer made the announcement on his official Instagram account on Thursday, November 5, describing the album as a timeless body of work.
“The legacy continues. OLDEST YOUNG MAN drops 27.11.26. Timeless music, no expiration date,” he wrote.
The announcement has generated fresh anticipation among fans, particularly as the project will be his first studio album since Warriors, which was released in 2020.
2Baba had previously hinted at the project in August, expressing excitement about the forthcoming release and reflecting on his journey in the music industry.
“I’ve lived it, I’ve seen it, I’m still here. My new album, Oldest Young Man, is coming soon,” he said.
The upcoming project is expected to mark another significant chapter in the singer’s career, which has spanned decades and produced some of Nigerian music’s most enduring records.
2Baba first gained widespread recognition in the late 1990s as a member of Plantashun Boiz, the influential music group he co-founded in 1996 with fellow singers Blackface and Faze.
Following the group’s success and eventual separation, he established himself as a solo artiste, releasing his debut album, Face 2 Face, in 2004.
He subsequently released Grass 2 Grace in 2006, The Unstoppable in 2009, The Unstoppable International Edition in 2010, Away and Beyond in 2012, The Ascension in 2014, and Rewind, Select, Update in 2015, before releasing Warriors in 2020.
His catalogue includes some of Afrobeats’ most recognised songs, including African Queen, which helped establish his international profile and remains one of his signature records.
