The nomination recognises years of work in online entertainment for the creator, who has attracted more than two million followers across social media platforms through his storytelling and video productions.

DEZNY’s interest in entertainment began with performances at church and school before he gradually moved into creating content for online audiences.

Rather than building his profile around a single viral moment, he has spent years developing his skills in writing, filming and editing, often handling different stages of production independently.

He has been involved in various aspects of content production since around 2015, an experience that has helped shape his creative approach and understanding of digital storytelling.

His interest in creating opportunities for other young talents also inspired him to establish YEC TV while in secondary school.

The platform was designed to encourage young people to explore their abilities in acting, music and dance, providing aspiring creatives with an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Although some of the participants eventually moved on to other pursuits, DEZNY continued developing his own entertainment career, extending his productions to YouTube and other social media platforms.

His content has since attracted a growing audience, with relatable situations and carefully developed storylines forming an important part of his creative identity.

One of his notable projects, Marriage List, required more than a month of preparation before filming began.

He reportedly developed the story in full before production and researched cultural elements featured in the narrative, including Umu’Ada and traditional beads.

The process involved seeking information about customs and practices with which he was not entirely familiar.

Beyond filmmaking and acting, DEZNY has a background in music, plays musical instruments and has participated in choirs.

These experiences have contributed to his understanding of rhythm and emotional expression, which he incorporates into his storytelling.

His background also includes military school training, another experience that forms part of his personal journey.

The DEZNY AMVCA nomination comes amid growing recognition of digital content creators in African entertainment, as social media platforms continue to provide independent storytellers with opportunities to reach audiences beyond traditional film and television.

For the creator, the recognition represents the outcome of years of experimentation, consistent production and working with limited resources to develop his craft.

From his early performances and the establishment of YEC TV to building an online following of more than two million, his journey reflects the gradual growth of a career shaped by persistence and creative ambition.
