Obasa Backs Hamzat to Deliver Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E Agenda

The Lagos Assembly Speaker describes the governorship candidate’s manifesto as a practical blueprint for continuity, accountability and people-centred development

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed confidence in the ability of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Hamzat, to deliver on his Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E agenda ahead of the 2027 election.

Obasa made his position known in a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday and signed by his Special Adviser on Research, Media and Documentation, Adeshina Oyetayo.

The endorsement followed the formal presentation of Hamzat’s manifesto, tagged Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E (Ileri Eko), at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Iganmu, Lagos.

The manifesto outlines the candidate’s policy priorities across several sectors, with P.R.O.M.I.S.E representing People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity.

Obasa described the document as a thoughtful and practical blueprint, saying it demonstrated a strong understanding of Lagos State’s opportunities and development challenges.

He also commended the intellectual effort and vision behind its formulation, noting that Hamzat’s educational background, experience in private and public service, and broad exposure had prepared him for leadership.

“For someone with accretion of insight, experience, education and exposure, I do not doubt that Dr Hamzat will sustain and build upon the developmental trajectory of Lagos State.

“He has the competence, character, and most importantly, the determination to rewrite the Lagos State socio-economic narrative,” Obasa said.

The Speaker expressed confidence that Hamzat would build on existing development projects and fulfil the commitments outlined in the manifesto.

He listed transportation, environmental resilience, flood and waste management, housing, security, healthcare, education and economic opportunities among the key areas covered by the agenda.

According to Obasa, the document also places emphasis on continuity, accountability, measurable outcomes and people-centred governance.

He particularly highlighted proposals to consolidate existing infrastructure projects, including Lagos State’s rail lines.

Obasa said residents should expect a new governance experience, pointing to the timelines contained in the manifesto as a means of assessing the candidate’s performance if elected.

He added that the document would provide a framework for accountability by enabling Lagosians to monitor progress and measure the implementation of Hamzat’s policy commitments.

Hamzat is the APC candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
