Ronaldo Hits 985 Career Goals After Stunning Hat-Trick in Al Nassr’s 5-3 Victory
Cristiano Ronaldo scores three times in Al Nassr’s 5-3 victory over Al Kholood, taking his reported career tally to 985 and keeping the 1,000-goal milestone within reach
Cristiano Ronaldo delivered another emphatic performance on Thursday, scoring a second-half hat-trick as Al Nassr defeated Al Kholood 5-3 in the Saudi Pro League to move his reported career tally to 985 goals, leaving him just 15 short of the historic 1,000-goal milestone.

The Portugal captain struck in the 66th, 72nd and 81st minutes at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, turning a closely contested encounter into a memorable individual display as Al Nassr strengthened their position in the league title race.
The victory also showcased the attacking influence of João Félix, who supplied four assists in an outstanding performance, helping Ângelo Gabriel and Sadio Mané find the net before setting up two of Ronaldo’s three goals.
Al Kholood had threatened to frustrate the home side after taking the lead through Julien Domingues in the 16th minute. Domingues opened the scoring with a finish that briefly put the visitors in control.
Al Nassr responded through Ângelo, who equalised in the 24th minute after a move involving Félix. Mané then put the hosts ahead in the 38th minute, giving Al Nassr momentum before the interval.
However, Al Kholood refused to fade quietly. Loïc Essomba restored parity in first-half stoppage time, sending both sides into the break at 2-2 and setting up a more demanding second half for the hosts.
Ronaldo took charge after the restart. In the 66th minute, the Portuguese forward finished from close range following Félix’s pass to give Al Nassr a 3-2 advantage.
Six minutes later, Ronaldo rose to meet another delivery from Félix, directing a header into the net to extend the lead to 4-2. His third goal arrived in the 81st minute when Mané recovered the ball after his attempt was saved and laid it off for Ronaldo to complete his hat-trick.
Domingues converted a penalty in the 94th minute to claim his second goal of the evening, but Al Kholood could not mount another comeback.
The match ended 5-3 in Al Nassr’s favour.
The three goals took Ronaldo’s reported career total to 985 official senior goals for club and country, placing him within touching distance of a landmark that has become one of the defining targets of the latter stages of his career.
The 41-year-old has continued to pursue the milestone through his performances in Saudi Arabia, adding to a scoring record built across spells with Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr and the Portugal national team.
His latest treble was particularly significant because it ended a two-match run without a goal, underlining his continued ability to influence decisive moments even as he approaches the closing stages of his career.
Ronaldo’s pursuit of 1,000 goals has also become a recurring talking point in coverage of Al Nassr’s season.
Earlier this month, the Saudi Pro League highlighted his progress towards the target after he reached 980 career goals, reflecting the attention surrounding each new addition to his tally.
Beyond Ronaldo’s achievement, Félix’s contribution offered another encouraging sign for Al Nassr.
The Portuguese playmaker’s four assists provided the creative platform for the victory, while Mané and Ângelo supplied important goals during a first half in which the hosts had to recover from conceding first.
The result moved Al Nassr into second place in the league standings, with Al Qadsiah remaining ahead on goal difference, according to the supplied match report.
The result keeps Al Nassr firmly involved in the title contest, although the campaign remains long enough for the standings to change.
For Al Kholood, Domingues’ brace and Essomba’s goal demonstrated their capacity to trouble the league’s leading sides, but defensive lapses after the interval proved costly.
Ronaldo’s immediate challenge is to maintain his scoring form as Al Nassr continue their domestic campaign and compete in continental football.
